On November 12th, 2016, the Belize High Commission participated in the annual Commonwealth Fair that contributes the monies raised by participating member states to the Commonwealth Countries League Education Fund (CCLEF). The Fund, from which several Belizean young women have and continue to benefit, exists to sponsor girls of ability through secondary school where, without financial assistance, they would be unable or unlikely to continue. Such aid also serves to give the girls a sense of their own value and worth and to enable them to act as ambassadors for female education within their own communities.
