Minister of Transport and NEMO and Area Representative Hon Edmond Castro has conveyed words of appreciation and congratulations to the Belize National Cricket Association and members of the Belize national cricket selection (most of whom are from Belize Rural North) that are currently competing and doing well in the 2019 Central American Cricket Championship Tournament being held from Thursday April 25 to Sunday April 28 in Naucalpan, Mexico.

In the very first match of the tournament Thursday morning, Belize defeated Mexico, the host country. Mexico scored 108; Belize scored 112, winning by 4 wickets (with 45 balls remaining).

After losing narrowly to defending champions MCC of England in a Thursday afternoon match, Belize rebounded earlier today with an impressive victory over Panama. Belize scored 157, and Panama scored 148. Belize now leads the tournament with 4 points from two victories. Our next match will be against Costa Rica tomorrow, April 27.

The five participating teams are the national sides of Belize, Costa Rica, Mexico and Panama, as well as a side representing the MCC. This is the Seventh Edition of the Central American Championship and the first since the ICC granted T 20 International status to matches between all of its Members.

Accompanying the Belize cricket selection is the recently elected President of the Belize National Cricket Association, Doctor Roy Young.
