In continuing with several fundraising efforts for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU), spearheaded by the Special Envoy for Women and Children, the Belize High Commission accompanied the First Lady, Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow to the UAE to meet with the Diaspora in February 2016.
The dinner, hosted by a Belizean living in Dubai, was carried out in an effort to re-connect with Belizeans in the region and involve them in the life and activities of Belize.
The meeting resulted in a proposed Fundraiser for the ICU to be held in Dubai alongside a week-long Immigration Services Clinic at the request of the Diaspora. While the Fundraiser was not able to take place, the Belize High Commission’s appeal to the Belizean Community in the region still garnered more than £35,000 towards the ICU.
