The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Commerce (MITC) through its departments, the Directorate General for Foreign Trade (DGFT), Belize Bureau of Standards (BBS), and the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit (IPCU), and in collaboration with Belize Investment Promotion Agency, the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), along with several of its key public and private sector partners, teams up to bring a series of events for Competitiveness Month 2019 that aims at strengthening competitiveness in the private sector through the enabling environment created by the Government of Belize.

Competitiveness can be conceptualized as a country’s ability to develop goods and services that will not only be able to meet the test of domestic and international markets but also, improve the real income and raise the welfare of its people. The Ministry acknowledges that competitiveness plays an important role in the prosperity and development of a country.

As a result, there will be a series of activities throughout the month of May, including trade and investment presentations and informational sessions to students, town hall discussions, art competitions, energy efficiency training workshops, and an entrepreneurship networking event. These activities are geared towards promoting opportunities that can ensure social, environmental and economic development.

The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Commerce continues to work in partnership with our stakeholders to ensure that we are improving, strengthening, and investing in our greatest asset – human capital – that will engender the citizenry to participate and compete in the national and international marketplace.
