Belmopan. April 7, 2020.

April 7th of each year marks the celebration of World Health Day. From its inception at the First Health Assembly in 1948 and since taking effect in 1950, the celebration, through a specific theme, has aimed at creating awareness of a priority area of concern for the World Health Organization.

The theme for World Health Day 2020 is to support nurses and midwives, highlighting their contribution in making the world a healthier place.

Today, the World Health Organization is honouring the nurses and other health workers who are putting their own health at risk to protect the broader community at the forefront of the COVID-19 response. The invaluable role they have played is a testimony of their sacrifice, courage, and commitment to a healthier and safer world.

The Ministry of Health congratulates health care professionals on working together for the good of their community, families and themselves to stop the spread of this highly infectious virus from creating ravishing and deadly effects to everyone.  The Ministry thanks all health care workers for the invaluable service and selfless care they continue to render to the Belizean public during these uncertain times.
